Sleeping Dogs Lie has the usual characters - the quirky (not the right word, but I'll go with it for now) BFF, Dottie, the feisty Grandmother, and the new love interest, Goliath's Vet Nadia. Maddie takes Goliath home because otherwise he would've been sent to a shelter. And so begins the mystery as Maddie decides to investigate herself because she feels that the police suspect that she is the killer. When she returns to Goliath's house, she finds his owner dead, bludgeoned to death. When we meet her, she is walking a new client's Champion Great Dane, Goliath. Maddie owns a thriving dog walking business with a number of employees. RJ Nolan has always had Danes in her stories, MJ Duncan's Atramentum, Meghan O'Brien's Battle Scars and now this book features a Great Dane. There have been plenty of series that started a little slow, so IвЂ™m keeping my fingers crossed this takes off with the next book.moreДЈ stars. This was an okay start, but itвЂ™s got a long way to go. The second book in this series is coming out in a few days. The book is very PG with all the sex scenes fade to black. It was like letвЂ™s just keep sleeping together and hope that you are not the killer. The main character is attracted to a potential murderer. Yes, I was tiered and that's not the books fault but I want books that give me insomnia, not ones that help me nod off. In fact I kept falling asleep when I was reading this last night. I actually liked that storyline but I wasnвЂ™t feeling any danger at all for the main character. The murder and all the suspects take place around dog shows and pure breed dogs. I love mysteries but I usually lean a little more towards hardcore mysteries than cozy ones. I thought this was a nice cozy mystery book.
